24. Henry MILES. Will for Henry. Probate for Wills Bombay 1865-68 Film No 0506944
In the last will and testement of Henry MILES late of Bombay European ?(At
a guess I'd say Reg) deceased.

The last will and testement of Henry MILES being in full possession of my
facilities of mind and body bequeth the whole of my property consisting as
follows.
ITEM Policy of Universal Life Insurance to the value of Rs 25 000
ITEM The sum of Rs 6 000 due to me by Mr Tromejie Borranjie ? to whom
it was given on loan as per receipt
ITEM The sum of Rs 2 000 due to me from my son George MILES
ITEM One share in the United Victoria & Calaba Reclamation Company
ITEM One share in the Imperial Cotton Press
ITEM One and a half share in the Frere Reclamation Company
ITEM Household chattles, carriges & horses to my wife Sarah MILES, the
avails of the whole, with the exception of such a portion of the
household goods that may be required for use is to be sold and invested in
funds yielding interest to be held in behalf of my three unmarried
daughters. The interest on the same to be regularly appreciated for the
support of my wife and my unmarried daughters.
In the case of the marriage of one or more of my daughters, the share of
such above mentioned property and appropriation is to cease, determined
from the date of the marriage.
While one of my daughters remains unmarried, the property is to remain
undevided and the interest is to be apportioned to the support of my wife
and unmarried daughter. In the case of the death
of my wife, the interest is still to be apportioned in behalf of the
surviving unmarried children.In the case of my daughters marrying or dying
before the death of my wife, that share of interest is to be apportioned
in behalf of my wife.Upon the death of my wife and the marriage of my
daughters.I will that the property be divided between my survying children
or their heirs after payment of the following legicies
Namely to my sister Matilda Rs1000
to my sister Anna Maria or to her survying children Rs 500
My wife is entitled to a fixed pension of Rs 60per annum(unsure)----- -?
for life from the Madras Widows Fund
I wish that no monument be errected over my remains, and that there be
simply a headstone.

I appoint the said Sarah MILES my wife and the Rev George Bowen the sole
exectors of this my last will and testement.

In the items mentioned above Rs 5000 is the amount collected for the
support of Ellen OLDER who is now in England with Miss PAGE. The interest
on this ammount is to be paid to Miss OLDER regularly until her death, and
her lawful children if she should have any after my death. In the event of
her having no use for the money, the interest is to be appreciated for the
support of another orphan to be settled on my exectors. She will cease to
draw any interest when she is able to provide for herself, and in her place
another orphan should be selected,and so on.

I expect my dear wife to aford her protection to my sister Matilda as
hitherto.

The foregoing will of Henry MILES was duly proved in the High Court of the
Jidicature at Bombay, and Probate thereof was granted in the usual form
unto Sarah Miles and RevGeorge Bowen of Bombay, a European inhabitant,the
executrix and executor therein nominated and appointed and having taken the
necessary oath in such as required
